Hi there and thankyou for visiting my blog.

For those of you who are studying with me at JCU you will totally understand what I am about to talk about...

The subject of my ICT portfolio is "Seagrass", the learning experiences are designed with a upper primary class in mind (grade 7). However all tasks included will be easily modified to a younger or older learners. ED4492 Technology across the curriculum has given us all much to think about concerning the general role of technology in schools. As future teachers we need to be life long learners to! When new equipment and software arrive in the school or in your classroom we have to treat it as a tremendous opportunity to learn with your students and to model problem solving, persistence (when things go wrong) and the joy that comes from developing a new skill/s.
Please take a moment and check out this link

The link will take you to a diagram called "Cone of Learning" it gives a good visual of why we learn more from an experience that we are actively involved in. I found this diagram which helps to understand social constructivist theory. The more a person is actively engaged in a learning experience the more they will remember long term.
